The Obama Presidency: "The Contours Of Failure Are Now Clearly Visible"

Wow. That, as they say, didn't take long. The quote above is from Jonathan Chait at The New Republic. We at MC enjoy TNR (like subscribing to Playboy for the articles, we read TNR for the book reviews; no, really) but it must be said that it gets the vapors rather easily. Going wobbly is standard operating procedure for them. In his article Chait blames Congress for the impending failure of Operation Obama and the Goblet of Socialization, particularly the Senate. We think the fish rots from the head down and there's no excuse in relieving the man at the top from responsibility, especially when he's acquiesced in being promoted as The Messiah. Failure Accomplished: Both Frank Rich & Paul Krugman Turn On The Teleprompter President

Yes friends, you read that right: two stalwart squishes both of the NYTimes have columns out today despairing over the incompetent Barack Obama. We at MC confess that we are a bit stunned ourselves that The One would flame out so comprehensively so early in his thousand year reign of peace. But there you have it! Both Krugman and Rich may well slither back into the fold of acolytes and resume singing Hosannas at a later date, consistency not being their strong suit. For now, however, enjoy Upper West Side buyer's remorse.

For Krugman's ruminations please click on the title of this post. For theater critic turned political analyst (and doesn't it show?) please go here: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/22/opinion/22rich.html?_r=2&ref=opinion

Relish the fact that Rich even suggests Obama's "Katrina Moment" may have arrived. Ouch.

Obama's Teleprompter Blog

We dearly wish we would have thought of this but we didn't! The next best thing we can do is to link to it so click on the title of this post and read what everyone in the drive by media and inside the beltway is reading. Deadly satire.

Palinphobes And The Audacity Of Type

Noemie Emery casts her gimlet eye (MC is fond of gimlets of any kind) on those on the right, purportedly, who were oh so enamored of Obama and oh so repulsed by Palin. Who's sorry now? Click on the title of this post to read her withering take down of Peggy Noonan and others.

From John Hinderaker At Powerline

via Power Line by John on 3/16/09

This ABC News/BBC poll documents the vast improvements that have taken place in Iraq since the surge began, as seen by the Iraqis themselves. Material conditions, faith in government institutions and, above all, security have all improved dramatically, giving rise to widespread optimism about Iraq's future. You can review the poll data here and draw your own conclusions. These charts, from the ABC report, are typical; click to enlarge. Iraqis' ratings of security, crime protection and freedom of movement where they live:

Support for democracy:

Confidence in Iraqi institutions:

One poll finding that is not highlighted by ABC but that stunned me was this: 53 percent of Iraqis say they "never" attend mosque, while another 11 percent attend "several times a year" or less.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Camille Paglia Gets Trashed By Fellow Liberals!

Uh oh: Camille opined recently that the people around Obama (and not The One Himself) were to blame for the astonishingly incompetent performance this administration has turned in since the Inauguration. Mind you she didn't blame Obama, just his aids but this was enough for the moonbats at Salon to go full batsh*t. This is a great read so do yourself a favor and click on the title to this post to view it yourself. PLEASE note the language alert: these hopey/changey types use very foul language.

Lame Democrat Contest Comes Up With This

The democrats held a contest in which they invited people to submit slogans for a billboard near Rush Limbaugh's home in Florida. The above is the best they could do.

Camille On Rush: Has The Administration Gone Mad?

We vote yes on the question but click on the title of this post to read Camille Paglia's take on the Rush non-story story and the Obama administration in general. You'll never think of Geithner in the same way again!

Fineman: Establishment Finds Obama Lacking

Amazing, really. Howard Fineman, one of the most in the tank for Obama media types in existence, writes that the establishment is rapidly concluding that The One is in over his head; that he doesn't have what it takes; that in ways both large and small they find him lacking. Lots of us already knew that but Fineman types wanted hope and change. Looks like they got neither.

Rive Gauche

Mark Steyn comments on Stuart Taylor being the latest of the bien pensant who are concluding that *this* isn't the Obama they thought they knew. Click on the title of this post to read Steyn.

David Frum: Why Rush Is Wrong

We are no fans of David Frum nor, we gather, are most conservatives. Even though Frum's article is sub-titled "A Conservative's Lament," we're not quite sure he means the same thing we do when he uses the word. At any rate, we post this because, as conservatives, we believe people should make up their own minds. As for us, well, let's just say we think David couldn't be more wrong when he claims that Rush Limbaugh is to Republicanism now what Jesse Jackson was to the Democrats in the 1980's. Click on the title of this post to read Mr. Frum's article.

Peggy Noonan Can Barely Critique The One

We wondered what Miss Peggy would do now that so many of her cocktail party cohorts have expressed disappointment and more at President Obama's dreadful first six weeks in office. Taking a maudlin detour through a tragedy that bears not at all upon her unvarnished, at times cringe-inducing, prose about Obama, Ms. Noonan can only spare the last fifth of her column today in which to address directly the state of The One. This is as tough as she gets: "President Obama himself contributes to an atmosphere of fear grown to panic as he takes a historic crisis and turns it into what he imagines is a grand opportunity for sweeping change."

MoDo was much tougher and she doesn't claim to be either a conservative or a Republican. Peggy's schtick is tired and stale and to at least one of us here at MC she remains dead. Wake us if she rediscovers her political principles.

Mark Levin & David Frum: On-Air Hissy Fits

Well this is unhelpful. Mark Levin brought David Frum onto his radio show wherein neither gentleman acquitted himself well. Get us re-write. Click on the title of this post to listen to their on-air exchange. Whatever our problems, they are not going to be solved by shouting past each other.

Falling Off The Messiah's Bandwagon

Jennifer Rubin at Contentions lists the latest dolt to fall off the Messiah's bandwagon: Modo, also known as Maureen Dowd of the New York Times. She joins David Brooks, David Gergen and the loathsome Christopher Buckley in waking up to the fact that President Obama is not what he said he was, never was and isn't about to start acting like it now. Hey 53% America! How's that inexperienced community organizer as President working out for you? And we've only just begun.

Sawalich Withdraws; Sutton Announces

Last night Brandon Sawalich announced that he was withdrawing from the race for Chair of the RPM. Click on image of his letter to enlarge. Tony Sutton announced that he was running for Chair of the RPM. Can it be that we have only one candidate running for the top position? What does that say about the state of our party?

Rush Limbaugh's Address To CPAC

If you missed Rush Limbaugh's address to CPAC (conservative political action commitee) then do yourself a favor: watch, listen and learn. Click on the title to this post to see the video. The one thing to remember: conservatives are not a minority in this country.
